Yuletide 2021 Letter
Dear Yuletide author,
Some of my favorite things to read include:
found family
strong friendships, especially ones that grow and develop slowly over time
detailed cultural worldbuilding
character sketch vignettes with plenty of emotion
bonds of loyalty, to a cause or a person
Basically, as long as characters care, about a person or people or a cause, I'll have a good time. Feel free to use these ideas as a jumping off point, or to go in a completely different direction.
General DNWs:
AUs set in worlds besides the original canon (diverging from canon events is fine!)
noncompliance with explicit canon character traits (particularly race of POC characters, gender identity, and sexual orientation)
smut
The Language of Thorns
Yeva Luchova and Little Knife
Yeva's life at the shore, their relationship after the end of the story. The illustration at the end of this story was my favorite one in the book, and I need more of Yeva and the water.
Rolling in the Deep
Olivia Sanderson and Ray Marino
I love the way Ray is a shield for Olivia when the world is too overwhelming, and the bond between them. I'd love some pre-book content (snippets of their bond developing, Olivia and Ray at a convention, whatever you'd like). Alternatively, a version of events where Ray isn't among the first casualties on the Melusine.
Wayward Children series
Kade West
I've loved Kade since he first appeared perched on a pedestal of paperbacks. I'll be happy with anything you give me featuring Kade; if you want to throw in any other characters (either from the books or original), I'm cool with whatever character combination as long as Kade is central to the story. A couple general possibilities:
Kade the Goblin Prince! Any stories of Kade in Prism would be lovely
more of Kade as he starts taking over responsibility for the school
The Queen's Thief
Costis Ormentiedes & Eugenides
I'm looking for anything between these two that wasn't shown on page. My favorite book in the series is The King of Attolia. Costis is my fave, and I'm super into the story of how his loyalty was slowly won by his exasperating king. We don't get enough of the two of them together after that.
Machineries of Empire
Khiruev & Brezan
I just really love both of these two, and I love their loyalty, and I love how hard they try. Anything with them together would delight me.
Some interactions before Cheris arrived on the scene and disrupted their routine
Something between them post-Raven Stratagem, as Khiruev finishes her recovery
Brezan cooks dinner for Khiruev
I don't have specific ideas for all of these fandoms, and I'm open to whatever you feel like writing! Thank you so much for the story (and for your patience as I took a couple days to get the rest of this letter posted.)
